Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson (1830–1886) was an American poet whose compressed lines, slant rhymes, dashes, and startling metaphors transformed lyric poetry. She lived most of her life in Amherst, Massachusetts, wrote nearly 1,800 poems, and published only a small number during her lifetime; her work became widely known after her death.
