Agatha Christie (1890–1976) was an English novelist, short-story writer, and playwright whose intricate puzzles helped define the golden age of detective fiction. She created Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, wrote novels including The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Murder on the Orient Express, and And Then There Were None, and also wrote the long-running stage mystery The Mousetrap.
